Title: Program Coordinator – Family Place

Regular Full Time: 40 hrs./week: Monday – Friday

Hourly Rate: $30.00 - $36.00 DOE

Homeward Bound of Marin, a vibrant and progressive nonprofit dedicated to eradicating homelessness in Marin County, presents an extraordinary opportunity for a Program Coordinator to lead our Family Place permanent supportive housing program. As a key member of our HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) and family programs, the Family Place Coordinator offers a chance to provide invaluable support to families through intensive case management, resource navigation, client advocacy, and property management. The Ideal Candidate

We are searching for a committed and creative professional with a background in case management, social work, and/or property management skills, showcasing exceptional communication skills, and a deep-rooted passion for tackling homelessness. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in case management, effective resource navigation, partnerships with landlords and property managers, and an unwavering commitment to applying equity principles in service delivery is crucial.

Experience working collaboratively within diverse teams is highly desirable. Patience and adeptness in navigating bureaucratic systems are additional qualities we highly value.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field (or a combination of experience)

2-3 years’ experience working with under-resourced, low-income populations; experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, desired

Experience in residential programs and/or housing programs, Housing First model

Knowledge of life skills and money management is a plus

Knowledge of tenancy rights and responsibilities under fair housing laws

Knowledge of Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Continuum of Care grant requirements is a plus

Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health issues

Knowledge of housing services, case management, resource navigation, and community engagement

Proficiency in data entry and management, preferably with HMIS or similar systems in data entry and management, preferably with HMIS or similar systems

Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance coverage. Expect to drive at least 250 miles in a given month to our scattered sites throughout Marin.

Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills

Major Responsibilities

Provide services and resources which promote housing retention and support individual goals of increasing economic independence and maintaining stable housing

Determine and document eligibility for the program according to HUD guidelines for chronic homelessness

Coordinate housing placements in partnership with shelter programs and local partners working with chronically homeless individuals

Address barriers to housing stability using the principles of Housing First and offer supportive services at least once a month or as needed

Manage conflicts and crisis situations as they arise

Provide supportive counseling, guidance, supervision, & referrals to community resources

Help residents to manage and build life skills, conduct habitability inspections of units and annual assessment of service needs

Attend and participate in staff meetings, supervision, and training Attend and participate in staff meetings, supervision, and training.

Maintain timely and accurate written computerized records, compile reports, and complete other program documents (case notes, incident reports, home visit reports, monthly and quarterly reports.

Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisor, colleagues, and members of the Leadership Team

Other duties as assigned
