Organizational Description

Our mission is to stop the spread of HIV, Hepatitis and STIs among increased risk populations. We strive to reduce the impact of drug and sex related harm to the communities of Alameda County by addressing health disparities, external barriers and increasing access to basic needs.

HIV Education and Prevention Project of Alameda County (HEPPAC) provides comprehensive risk reduction services in the Alameda County community, primarily within the city of Oakland. Our Casa Segura Drop-in Center provides basic needs services; free showers, free laundry services, a food pantry, a safe place to rest and come off of the streets. We provide HIV and Hepatitis C antibody testing and counseling services. HEPPAC is also responsible for the operation of the syringe exchange program for the city of Oakland and the county of Contra Costa.

Classification/Benefits

Position Description

The Programs Manager (PM) provides leadership to the organization’s efforts 1. Implement, evaluate and monitor programs activities. Provide supervision for staff performance. 3. Presentations of quantitative and qualitative reporting and evaluation data. 4 .Assist the Executive Director with obtaining financial and other support to sustain its work, including planned, annual and deferred giving; approaches to individuals, foundations and corporations. In addition, the PM supervises the activities of direct service staff to obtain process and outcome objectives. Works with administrative and leadership team on marketing and promotional functions to construct and market appropriate image, develop ties with the community and achieve membership/participation goals. The PM participates as a member of the senior management team to formulate and implement policies that meet the organization’s short- and long term development objectives. The Programs Manager (PM) holds primary responsibility for developing, managing, reporting and implementing HEPPAC's current and future fund development and marketing (including civic organizations, businesses, foundations and individuals). The PM leads all related outreach and marketing strategies designed to raise awareness of HEPPAC’s services, cultivate new donors and maintain/strengthen relationships with existing supporters.

Responsibilities

Assist the Administrative team with the development and management of HEPPAC's strategies for cultivating and growing individual staff development and community donors (including civic organizations, businesses, foundations, and individuals)

Draft an annual fund development plan to the Executive Director and Board of Directors detailing income and related communications/marketing strategies for engaging individual/community donors

Develop and manage the full range of activities associated with HEPPAC’s individual/community fundraising efforts, including direct mail appeals, acknowledgment letters, donor relations, cultivation events, etc.

Identify donor prospects related to individuals, corporations and foundations

Manage the production and dissemination of all HEPPAC materials related to cultivation and fundraising events, including save the dates and invitations

Create and manage the HEPPAC donor database, ensuring information is current and accurate, and relevant reports are produced

Prepare reports and ancillary materials, as needed, to document current program impact and fundraising goals

Manage all agency communications/marketing materials, and the HEPPAC brand, including creating and disseminating newsletters, annual reports, brochures or other materials as identified

Manage HEPPAC's on-line presence including developing and strengthening HEPPAC's website, social media, e-newsletter and other materials, as needed, and ensuring content is dynamic and current

Program reporting to all of HEPPAC funders, includes assisting in grant writing with the Executive Director and leadership team.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience developing and managing communications/direct marketing materials and knowledge of best practices regarding effective print and on-line communications strategies

Demonstrated experience successfully engaging and growing donations from individual/community supporters, and corporate and family foundations and awareness of best practices in donor cultivation strategies

Passion for HEPPAC's mission and comfort dealing with issues of HIV, AIDS and Substance Use

Ability to lead HEPPAC's individual and foundation donors and related communications strategies and advise staff and board in these areas

Strong understanding of social media and new web-based technologies

Outstanding interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with diverse constituents

Excellent project management skills and ability to meet deadlines

Excellent written and oral communication skills (writing sample will be requested)

Knowledge of and comfort with computers, including various social networking platforms

Occasional evening or weekend work required
