A Better Way, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Family Partner to join our Early Childhood Mental Health Prevention and Early Intervention (ECMH-PEI) Program. This role is designed for professionals with personal lived experience navigating service systems for their child, offering a unique perspective that enriches the support provided to families navigating mental health services. The Family Partner serves as a vital link between families and ECMH/PEI services, ensuring that the family's voice and choice are respected and prioritized. This position reports directly to the Program Manager and plays a key role in facilitating community linkages, supporting the organization and enhancing access to various community services and supports.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

-Facilitate and support community linkages for families, guiding them to appropriate services such as medical, educational, and social supports to build resilience and autonomy.

-Organize and support the delivery of parent Cafés and support groups, providing a safe and nurturing environment for parents to share experiences and learn from each other.

-Use initial screening and assessment tools to support the early identification of potential mental health issues in children, collaborating with the care team to ensure appropriate follow-up and intervention.

-Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and service providers, enhancing the referral network available to families.

-Serve as an advocate for families, ensuring their needs and preferences are communicated and respected throughout the service delivery process.

-Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all interactions, interventions, and outcomes with families, contributing to the program's evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.

-Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training sessions as required, sharing insights and strategies to improve service delivery and outcomes for families.

Qualifications and Characteristics Desired:

-Must be a parent who has successfully navigated service systems on behalf of their own child, demonstrating a strong understanding of the challenges and pathways to accessing care and support within the community.

-Experience in facilitating or co-facilitating support groups such as parent Cafés and other group-based support activities.

-Deep understanding of and ability to guide families through service systems, making complex processes more accessible and reducing barriers to care.

-Demonstrated sensitivity to and competence in dealing with diverse client populations and addressing social determinants of health.

-Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to act as a liaison between families and service providers.

-Familiarity with initial screening and assessment tools like the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale (NCFAS), Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ/ASQ-SE), and Pediatric Symptoms Checklist.

-Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practices.

-Valid California driver's license, clear driving record, personal vehicle, and insurance coverage for travel as needed.

-Bilingual/bicultural competencies preferred to meet the diverse needs of the community served.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance-

Employees must pass LiveScan check and receive TB and health clearances prior to employment. Compliance with vaccination policy.
