Bakery Nouveau's Capitol Hill team is looking to hire a dedicated kitchen steward who is focused on keeping the kitchen neat and clean and keeping up with dishes and bake-ware.
The position we're hiring for is 40 hrs per week, with a schedule of 7 am to 3 pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
The kitchen steward's main responsibilities include:
- Washing dishes and cooking ware, from small wares like cookie scoops all the way up to sheet pans and 20+ qt mixing bowls, and everything in between.
- Facility cleaning, including surfaces and floors.
- Monitoring of sanitation supplies and equipment, alerting the production manager to any needs.
As time allows, the kitchen steward may also help with other tasks, such as:
- Assisting the production team, such as by filling a variety of croissant, helping on sandwiches, and other prep work.
- Assist with weighing ingredients and setting up production stations.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Prior experience as a dish and ware washer or with facilities cleaning preferred, but not required.
- Ability to read and follow task lists.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physically, you can expect to be:
- Working around hot water and hot bakery equipment or ovens.
- Walking on or across damp or wet areas on the floor.
- Moving and lifting 5 to 15 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Constantly using your hands and arms, and standing or walking for most of your shift.
We are hiring for the hours listed above, and all employees can qualify for benefits, depending on hours worked.
