Hunger Mountain Children's Center, a non-profit child care and preschool, is seeking a full-time Teacher Assistant/Floater. The Teacher Assistant supports classroom teachers by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. They must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their families. There is opportunity for this position to become a full-time classroom teacher if experience and education requirements are met.

Duties:

- Cover for teachers during breaks, vacations, sick days, planning time, etc.

- Ensure safety of classroom and children at all times

- Help children maintain healthy hygiene and change diapers

- Communicate and build relationships with children and families

- Help manage the appearance and cleanliness of the facility

- Abide by Vermont Licensing Regulations

The candidate must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma. We are willing to train the right individual. The ideal candidate will have completed the state's Fundamentals in Early Childhood Education class or a 3 credit course in early childhood education - or able to complete the class within 6 months.
