Since 1965, Capstone Community Action has supported individuals and families in Central Vermont in achieving economic and housing stability and rising out of poverty. Capstone’s early childhood education and family services are central to its mission, offering center-based and home-based Head Start and Early Head Start programs that support positive child, family, and community outcomes that use a whole-child approach and actively engage parents as partners in their children’s early learning and development.

Position: The Learning Together Center (LTC), one of Capstone’s center-based programs, has a Teacher position available with the Infant and Toddler classroom team. The LTC team of Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and Family Advocates work collaboratively to provide full-day, high-quality services in the recently renovated, light-filled Brook Street School in downtown Barre, Vermont. For an early childhood professional seeking an opportunity to support very young children and families in a high-quality, comprehensive, progressive program, and work in a team environment, the Infant and Toddler Teacher position offers a unique career and professional development opportunity.

Competencies and other requirements for this position include:

Excellent communication skills with both young children and adults.

Demonstrated competency in engaging in effective, nurturing interactions with children.

Ability to plan and implement appropriate, child-centered learning experiences.

Familiarity with community resources and supportive services.

Positive regard for and ability to engage with diverse populations and people with low incomes.

Ability to meet physical demands of working with young children in a center-based setting, including regularly lifting 50-60 pounds; frequently standing, walking, climbing, stooping/bending, squatting/crouching; and occasionally running/sprinting.

Commitment to working collaboratively with a team toward shared goals and objectives.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with a 40-hour per week standard schedule and competitive pay at $18.58 - $24.07 per hour. Capstone’s full-time benefits program offers generous paid time off; health, dental, and life insurance plans; and a 401k retirement plan with employer match. Head Start programs also offer and support exceptional opportunities for training and professional development.
