SummaryThe primary purpose of the Accountant I position is to apply professional accounting principles and techniques in meeting assigned responsibilities and in preparing data for the department accounting records, financial reports, special reports, and analyses of operations within the Department of Imaging Physics.The ideal candidate will have prior experience in healthcare or government environment with financial management, budgeting, accounting, effort reporting, and internal control functions. As well as experience with MDACC systems: Kronos, Concur, PeopleSoft, EPIC and be highly proficient in MS Excel and Access.job specific competenciesFinancial Reporting and Maintenance

Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports for faculty.

Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports for the Small Animal Imaging Facility

Assembles comprehensive review of expenses based on the General Ledger download for both Faculty and the Small Animal Imaging Facility.

Responds to ad hoc report requests for financial information for department and division.

Maintain up-to-date information for assigned areas of the departmental database, to include information about departmental funding, personnel, etc.

Participate in the accumulations and tabulation of data for reports of major appropriations and expenditures, cost of construction, maintenance, etc.

Assists the Financial Analyst with the development, maintenance, and timely distribution of financial reports and documentation for the department, ie: Margin Accounts and Individual Faculty and Chair PRS Funds.

Assists in maintaining departmental databases of financial information, to include personnel trending, and generates routine and ad hoc reports for the Financial Analyst.

Assists SAIF with external invoicing and reconciliation.

Assists SAIF with Infrastructure FAR requests related to new equipment purchases/ installation.

Develop and maintain a financial dashboard for the Small Animal Imaging Facility

Budget Management/Analysis and Reporting

Monitor balances and tracks income and expenses for department chart fields.

Monitor balances and tracks income and expenses for The Small Animal Imaging Facility's program income and grant accounts.

Assists SAIF's Administrative Director with preparing SAIF's yearly budget for the CCSG office.

Assists SAIF with S10 grant submission budgets and reports.

Assists SAIF with Audit preparation and response as needed.

Prepares accounting data items such as revenue and expense transfers for entry into the accounting system.

Initiate contact with departmental grants and finance teams, to resolve problems or questions regarding accounting data items.

Audit vouchers and other documents for accuracy and conformance with established General Accounting procedures and system and state regulations.

Maintain controlling records required to ensure accuracy of all data entered into the accounting system.

Assist in maintaining complete and accurate files of all transactions on assigned fund groups.

Trains and assists Administrative Staff on PRS Purchasing Guidelines and PeopleSoft purchasing account codes.

Assists in reconciling all fund groups to assure accounting accuracy and monitors expenditures to assure department compliance with institutional policies and procedures pertaining to fiscal issues.

Perform related duties relevant to closing the monthly and annual financial statements and other duties as required.

Prepare adjusting and closing entries, statements, and analyze financial operations as required.

Assists in the maintenance of department personnel trending reports.

Assists the Financial Analyst, Research Laboratory Manager and Department Administrator in the preparation of departmental annual budgets by tracking and monitoring the margin accounts.

Provide ongoing projections for expenses by utilizing and analyzing departmental, divisional, and institutional data.

Required education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related.Required experience: One year of experience required with degree in Business Administration or related field. With a degree in Accounting, no experience is required.May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
