Position: Village Coordinator
Supervisor: Program Manager
Hours: 30-40 hours/week (Non-Exempt) Monday-Friday 10:00 am - 6:30 pm. Part-time (30 hours are available for those interested.
Wage: $24.00-27.00 /hr. Depending on experience
Role Description
The Village Coordinator is responsible for managing the physical and cultural upkeep of the village itself. This will include but not be limited to: scheduling and running culture-building activities with Villagers; tracking Villagers’ onsite work duties; coordinating volunteer support; practicing trauma-informed de-escalation; staying abreast of infrastructure needs throughout the village with some maintenance/ custodial work involved; and working with leadership to navigate interpersonal conflict in a healthy and trauma informed manner resting on the values of honesty, having and respecting healthy boundaries, and accountability to one another.
The heart of the work will be direct, general support to the Villagers as each works towards their goals. The Village Coordinator will be a point of contact between Villagers, organizations, and neighbors. The Village Coordinator will get to work with a fast-growing, mission-driven team and have the opportunity to meet and learn from various partner organizations engaged in human services and housing solutions throughout Portland while establishing deep relationships with people in transition.
Village Coordination
Handle onboarding and offboarding process for Villagers.
Maintain regular village presence and orderliness/ cleanliness standards. This will sometimes involve custodial work (Mopping, vaccumming, dusting, deep cleaning of village, etc).
Help organize outings & events for Villagers.
Communicate pertinent information to and from staff through a variety of means.
Communicate the needs and requests of villagers to management.
Complete daily logs to ensure operational continuity.
Procure supplies.
Oversee assigned villager chores and work schedules.
Maintain a variety of equipment.
Assist with cooking village dinners.
Manage cleanliness and organization of onsite cabins, including transition for new villagers.
Program Assistance
Develop and oversee weekly program schedules.
Communicate with program participants about the expectations of the program and provide feedback.
Collect and validate timesheets for program participants.
Assist participants with communicating kitchen and pantry needs.
Provide orientation for new participants.
Provide constructive feedback on participant work and communicate any improvements that can be made.
Problem solve logistical issues that may arise throughout the week.
Manage web-based program tools.
Administrative
Maintain a professional demeanor and informational discretion.
Document purchases made and submit monthly reports.
Participate in weekly staff meetings.
Review security camera footage as needed. Address security breaches immediately.
Complete light, handy work.
Physical Requirements
This position may involve physical activities and demands, and will need to be able to fulfill the following physical requirements:
Lifting and Carrying: The ability to lift and carry objects, equipment, or materials of up to 50 lbs.
Standing and Walking: This role involves periods of standing and walking
Bending and Stooping: Candidates should be capable of bending, stooping, and performing tasks that require flexibility.
Manual Dexterity: Adequate manual dexterity and coordination are necessary to handle tools and equipment relevant to the job.
Physical Stamina: The role may require individuals to maintain physical stamina to meet the demands of the job.

Qualifications
Required:
1-2 years of work experience in a shelter setting or with those experiencing homelessness
Trauma-informed education/ work experience
Facilities operations (light maintenance)
Desired:
Alcohol and drug treatment experience
Required Soft Skills
Have strong emotion regulation skills.
Ability to exercise professional social work boundaries.
Ability to have constructive conversations around unhealthy behavior.
Have a strong understanding of the importance of a healthy culture based on authenticity and trust.
Location
This position is located in our village at 621 NE 76th Ave. Portland, Oregon. The chosen candidate must have the legal right to work in this location. We are unable to sponsor visas or relocations at this time. This is not a remote position.
