With revenues of more than $40 billion and the largest investment in R&D in the industry, we give our people the resources and chances to create significant contributions to the world.Location/Division Specific InformationThe North America Inventory Manager has overall responsibility for ensuring that inventory entitlement for MSD’s North America sites are kept to high level of usability. They will ensure Production has the right part, in the right quantities at the right time. This position’s primary objective is to review inventoried materials and ensure planning and operations have a current inventory picture in place to support their needs. This will help operations and improve the organization’s profitability.Discover Impactful WorkAs the North America Inventory Manager, you will be working with our Global Inventory Team and the site Purchasing, Planning, Warehouse and Finance teams to monitor and manage inventory. You will also bring multiple, less established, sites in North America into existing processes. You will ensure that current and future inventory across North American sites support Operation’s needs and financial targets.A day in the Life:

Use MRP systems to monitor usage of inventory

Work with suppliers and procurement to set up consignment stock agreements (VOMI)

Select slow moving or obsolete materials for review and disposition

Work to improve management and control of inventory through process review and change (Practical Process Improvement)

Collect data and update current metrics for inventory management

Create and roll out new metrics that improve inventory entitlement

Work on RCCM’s (Root Cause Counter Measures) that will improve inventory status

Drive/set inventory entitlement goals to drive balanced stock levels

Review and/or participate in site projects that impact inventory

Work in conjunction with Global site Inventory managers/leads to harmonize efforts between sites

Act a liaison with local NPI, ECO planners, on adding or obsoleting part numbers

Maintain processes and procedure docs for the Inventory manager/lead role

Report out on status of inventory projects for NA sites.

Review and approve Safety Stock requests

Mentor and Guide NA site inventory representatives on standard methodology and improvement ideas

Review and maintain non production inventory Including but not limited to PPE, Gasses, Water cleaning.

Keys to Success:

Must be willing to travel to multiple sites regularly

Must have positive relationship building skills

Must dedicate time to understand products and details of Manufacturing in each site

Ability to understand and Classify, Organizational and E&O risks.

Grasp of Current MRP methodology

Education

University degree in supply chain management, or an appropriate combination of education and experience

APICs certification preferred but not required

Experience

5 years of confirmed experience in operations and inventory management

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Experienced in change management, continuous improvement and NPI activities.

Strong analytical skills.

In depth experience with inventory, planning, purchasing, and operations.

In-depth experience working with MRP systems (knowledge of QAD a plus but not required)

High level of organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work with teams internationally

Ability to influence teams with different objectives to include and consider inventory priorities.

Able to re-set priorities as corporate objectives change

Must have ability to acquire a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required

Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong English proficiency

High level of proficiency with Microsoft Outlook/Microsoft Excel/Microsoft Word. Access and Microsoft BI a plus.
