JOB SUMMARYThe Accountant is responsible for reconciling general ledger accounts and preparation of journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The Accountant must also perform an analysis of assigned accounts in order to provide management with timely and accurate information to support business decisions. This position interacts with payroll processing, payroll tax, payroll systems, as well as other accounting departments.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares journal entries for month-end close and prepares account reconciliations. Analyze and determine corrections to be made.
Utilizes software applications to compile, retrieve, and summarize accounting information for analysis and reporting purposes. Review data variances and be prepared to present the results to supervisor.
Provide insight into the variances including communicating with other personnel in and outside of accounting, and supporting the audit process
Performs duties in compliance with GAAP, company and department policies and procedures, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
Prepares work papers and ad hoc reporting requests, other analysis, and special projects in a clear and concise manner in accordance with management and external audit requirements.
Perform other duties as requested for supervisor

Strong proficiency in MS Office, specifically MS Excel including pivot tables and vlookups
Must be able to work flexible hours, including hours beyond the normal work week when required
