Facilities AssistantAPPLY The Opportunity:The Facilities Assistant will assist with the daily facility needs throughout the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning's (AAP) buildings. Duties include, moving furniture, supplies, and equipment, investigating and ensuring the repair of basic maintenance issues, monitoring and ensuring the building's cleanliness, removal of recycling and trash, and assisting the Director with ensuring the ongoing safety and regulatory compliance of the college's buildings. Support the Director on larger projects. AAP also owns a historic house in college town, the Miller Heller house, where it maintains four rentable apartments. This position assists with the ongoing mowing and shoveling needs as well as turning over apartments when required. This position frequently assists faculty and students with the core academic mission, including setting up faculty research and teaching spaces and helping students set up their projects for presentation. Must provide excellent customer service and build and maintain trust Excellent customer service skills are required.Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent with 2-4 years relevant experience. Ability to lift and move heavy objects and climb stairs. Strong commitment to recycling and composting. Basic mechanical skills and understanding of building systems. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people. Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines in order to satisfy the occupants as well as the project coordinators. Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organization and customer service skills. Demonstrate effective listening skills. Basic office skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, email, and ability to research on the internet.Must have a clean driving record and maintain a license.
