The PositionEmployee Development Managers and Training Officers analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage and coordinate training and development for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function and supervise and/or conduct sessions for vocation and/or skills training in specific occupational areas and general management development.Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.The Nevada Department of Transportation seeks a Training Officer 1 to join the team within District I in Las Vegas. The incumbent is responsible for the Safety and Training program for District I. The incumbent coordinates and oversees the duties of the Equipment Operator instructor(s) and a Safety Specialist(s); performs NDOT Safety/OSHA, Global Harmonization System (GHS), Defensive Driving, Flagging, and First Aid required trainings; coordinates with the NDOT Training Section, Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), and with all levels of supervision to ensure standard training to the entire District; administers the third party CDL examiner program; works with District supervisors to address safety issues including accident/injury investigations and reporting; and represents NDOT at monthly meetings for local units of government, city, and law enforcement agencies.
