The AI-Measurement and Data science (AIMD) Lab in the Data Science and Analytics Program, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Georgetown University is hiring a qualified candidate to fill the position Research Associate, which will contribute to the overall strategic success and technical advancement in the AIMD Lab. The AIMD Lab, located at Car Barn in Georgetown University, is a newly established AI Lab affiliated with the Data Science and Analytics (DSAN) Program under the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The AIMD Lab engages in advancing measurement and machine learning tools on new data sources (e.g., process data, textual data, and behavioral data from virtual reality) collected in interdisciplinary fields such as education, psychology, psychiatry and public health, to better measure individual’s latent trait and ability, extract meaningful behavioral patterns and track people’s problem-solving strategies. Additional duties include but are not limited to:

Participate in professional training and workshops and direct meetings with Lab Director.

Conduct data collection, statistical analysis (data cleaning, modeling, program coding, visualization), and data interpretation.

Participate in development of manuscripts and reports, and conduct of primary and secondary data analyses.

Coordinate with all parties in research projects (faculty, staff, students, internal and external collaborators) to ensure satisfactory deliverables.

Construct and maintain the Lab website.

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Lab Director.

Perform other research/administrative related duties as assigned.

Work InteractionsThis position offers opportunities to work with the research experts in the measurement, statistics, and data science fields with a focus on application to educational and psychological assessments. This position is best suited for those who have received a graduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Sciences, or other related fields. Preferred start date is ASAP and no later than September 2, 2024. The position will report directly to the Director of the AIMD Lab. This position is required to work 3.5 days (28 hours) per week. The compensation for this position is on an hourly base, at a rate of $25.00 per hour. The position has a fixed term of one year, with a possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.Requirements and QualificationsEducation/Experience Requirements:

Master’s degree in Mathematics/Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Psychometrics, Quantitative Psychology, or other related majors

Research experience in statistical modeling, psychometric modeling, process data analysis, quantitative measurement, policy research with quantitative methods, and/or computer modeling is preferred but not required; experience can come from part-time work, work in a college setting, or internships

Competence to undertake research assignments with little supervision is preferred

Must be authorized to work in the U.S

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

Strong computer and programming skills and experience

Strong statistical modeling, data science and quantitative data analysis skills

Experience with software such as R, Python, SPSS or other programming codes

Experience handling large datasets and models are preferred

Strong academic writing and presentation skills are preferred

Independent research experience is preferred

Experience with website construction and maintenance is preferred
