POSITION DETAILS
FURNITURE MAKER APPRENTICESHIP, FULL-TIME
STARTS AT $21-27/hr. BUTplease understand a few things, we treat our people well, like my family. I also understand our makers are the backbone of the company. Those that do right by the company, we do right by. Employees that demonstrate consistency, a great attitude, and hunger to learn will ultimately prosper as the company steadily grows. The first 4-6 weeks would be at a probationary starting wage, during this time the candidate's performance would be evaluated and then we would reevaluate an updated base wage for the coming 6-12 months.
TOMFOOLERY AS A CAREER OR AS AN IMPORTANT STEPPING STONE
You'd be learning how to build high-end solid wood furniture. So if eventually you have the aspiration to start your own woodworking or furniture business, landing an apprenticeship at Tomfoolery will put you on the fast track to making that possible. As an example, one of our members that was hired 14 months ago now knows most everything I know in terms of furniture making (which took me about 8-9 years of 60+ hour weeks) and he's already been building furniture for himself preparing to take his own business full time soon. I do what I can to help all our members succeed and work towards a life they can be proud of and happy to live. "No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care."

We have members that specialize in certain aspects of the crafting process, but our team gets its strength and consistency from each member having a strong understanding of the building process. This requires a greater upfront investment from the company, but allows for more flexibility and creative problem solving.

As the owner/lead designer, I do not like to "hover" or "micromanage". It's an strict requirement that I trust every member. Within the dimmer switch of TRUST, our members are affordable a ton of autonomy and self-policing. I take TRUST very seriously and only want candidates with strong character.
We are steadily growing as a company, and plenty of opportunity to take initiative, accept responsibilities and advance yourself in ways even beyond just directly building the furniture.
We are a MERITOCRACY. I do not believe in tenure or "years of experience" being the main gauge of value. It's simple, if you produce more or accept more responsibility then you will get compensated more.
1 Hour of PTO accrued for every 40 hours worked.

This candidate would get to learn how to build handcrafted solid furniture around positive, higher energy, and encouraging people, the wage starts at $21-27/hr, guaranteed 40 hours/week with plenty of room for advancement without formal education degrees or vocational certifications.
REQUIREMENTS:
Positive and polite. We have a strict "PLEASE + THANK YOU" culture. I believe a simple 'thank you' goes a very long way when working closely together day in and day out.
Solid Character and trustworthy.
Highly motivated. Team player. "Above and beyond" approach.
Passion for self-improvement and growth.
Eager and willing to dive in and learn everything being taught quickly. Can take direction and retain HUMILTY.
Previous woodworking, and/or carpentry experience.
