Job Summary:

The Indianola Country Store is a family-owned business in the small beach community of Indianola, WA. The store provides a selection of basic grocery items in addition to preparing made-to-order deli sandwiches, pizzas, espresso drinks as well as premade breakfast items, soups and paninis.

The Assistant Manager – Closing Shift position is full-time and is responsible for supporting the Owner/Manager with day-to-day operations of the store. This position will work alongside co-workers on the closing shift (typically Noon or 1:00 pm until 8:30 or 9:00 pm). This position will oversee and supervise Store Associates and will provide training and guidance while helping to encourage and motivate staff to achieve success as a team. The Assistant Manager will lead by example and ensure that all duties and responsibilities are completed to expectations. The Assistant Manager will also assist with planning/coordinating food preparation, scheduling, ordering, as well as various opening/closing duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Manager must be able to perform various duties and responsibilities while working in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Those duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Operation and maintenance of the point-of-sale system including, inventory tracking, item setup, customer tracking and preparing and reviewing reports

Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and standards

Develop and enforce health and safety rules

Assist with training of new employees

Inspire and encourage other staff to ensure quality performance and high morale

Ensure alignment with goals and objectives by clearly communicating expectations and providing helpful feedback

Helping to plan and implement strategies to attract customers and increase revenue

Greet and assist customers, monitor customer satisfaction and resolve customer service issues and complaints

Develop and maintain customer relationships

Prepare various food offerings including sandwiches, pizzas, espresso drinks, and premade items to a preferred standard in an efficient manner

Plan, coordinate, and track daily tasks to ensure satisfactory completion

Maintain the appearance of the store through regular cleaning, vacuuming, mopping and dusting

Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

Excellent customer service skills

Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills both with coworkers and customers

Strong work ethic and ability to multitask

Ability to work flexible hours (nights and weekends)

Good time management and ability to prioritize assigned tasks

Ability to work as part of a team

Work Environment and Requirements:

Applicant must be 21 years of age or older

Work is performed at the store, in-person (no opportunity for remote work)

Occasionally required to lift and move up to 25 pounds

Must provide or obtain a Food Handler’s Permit within one week of hire

Willingness to obtain Certified Food Program Manager certification and Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) permit

Previous retail experience in a grocery and/or restaurant setting required

Previous management experience preferred

Wages and Benefits:

Starting wage is negotiable depending on qualifications
