Provide coverage and oversight of Edmonds Waterfront Center's (EWC) congregate lunch/meal program for seniors. Oversee preparation, service, and daily clean-up of meals served at EWC in accordance with program standards. In this role, the Chef/Cook will train with Homage Senior Services, and in collaboration "enhance the provision of nutrition to eligible seniors" (Homage). The Chef/Cook must be friendly, positive, and have a passion for working with seniors, EWC staff, and the general public. Hours are part-time up to 5 hours daily M-F. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare cold and hot foods according to preparation instructions-maintain appropriate temperatures
Review upcoming menu-Pre-prep items such as desserts when needed
Use proper serving utensils for portion control
Assure presentation of food is stellar
Store foods according to standards to assure food safety and sanitation
Maintain clean food preparation, service, and dining areas
Assist with managing volunteers in meal program
Complete required documentation and submit to the Homage Nutrition office on a timely basis
Other duties as required
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED; Two or more years' experience in food service. Valid food handlers' card: Ability to work independently with regular reporting to supervisor and EWC
Culinary Training or combination of applicable education, training, and experience are preferred.
Work Environment and physical demands:
Standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, walking are daily requirements. While performing the duties of this role, the Chef/Cook is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to use full range of sense of hearing, sight, touch and smell as needed to work effectively in a kitchen and prepare meals.
