Seattle Hebrew Academy is seeking an experienced and passionate Hebrew teacher for our Middle and Lower School students who will also play a key role in ensuring a seamless transition in the Hebrew curriculum from K-8. The ideal candidate will have strong pedagogical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a deep commitment to student success.

Seattle Hebrew Academy is a Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School serving the greater Seattle community for over 70 years. We provide exceptional academics and inspired Judaic Studies for students from Early Childhood through 8th Grade. SHA fosters teacher growth and development through professional mentoring, peer mentoring, teacher collaboration, and ongoing professional development.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop an engaging and inspiring learning environment that fosters student growth in Hebrew language skills.

Ensure a smooth and cohesive transition in Hebrew curriculum from K-8, aligning content, skills, and instructional strategies across grade levels.

Design structured and engaging lesson plans that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving.

Assess student achievement regularly using a variety of tools and modalities to monitor progress and communicate effectively with students and parents.

Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, providing appropriate accommodations and modifications.

Innovate and personalize instruction to maximize student learning and engagement.

Collaborate closely with Hebrew and Judaic Studies faculty to maintain consistency and continuity in language instruction.

Participate actively in department, school, and parent meetings, contributing to curriculum planning and alignment.

Communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues to foster a supportive learning community.

Engage in school-wide professional development, seeking continual feedback and growth opportunities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Hebrew, Judaic Studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

Fluency in Hebrew and English with strong communication skills in both languages.

Experience teaching Hebrew in a school setting, preferably across multiple grade levels.

Expertise in curriculum development and vertical alignment to ensure smooth transitions between grade levels.

Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers and administrators.

Five or more years of teaching experience is highly desirable.

Compensation: Competitive salary contingent upon experience and education.
