Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in the machinery manufacturing industry in Norfolk, Virginia. This role involves a range of duties related to processing invoices and maintaining accurate accounting records. This is a contract to hire employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Organizing and processing a high volume of invoices Accurately entering invoices into the Deltek CostPoint system Verifying the accuracy of billing data and revising any errors Matching receipts from receiving departments to invoices Communicating with vendors and associates regarding payment status and inquiries Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies in accounting records Responding to mail and telephone inquiries regarding rates, routing, and procedures Organizing and filing all Accounts Payable documents Maintaining sub labor timecards for the organization Performing administrative duties for management High-volume data entry and creation of office documents and files Carrying out general clerical duties including photocopying, faxing, and mailing Maintaining electronic and hard copy filing system. Requirements Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in an Accounts Payable Clerk role or similar. Proficiency in Account Reconciliation and Accounts Payable (AP) is essential. Experience in handling Check Runs and Coding Invoices is necessary. Must possess strong Data Entry skills. Proficiency in Invoice Processing is required. Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Costpoint - Deltek is a plus. Should have excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Must have a strong understanding of machinery manufacturing industry standards and practices. Should have strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices is required. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Must comply with all company policies and procedures. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Professional certification in Accounting or related field is a plus.
