Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are offering a contract-to-permanent opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in Norfolk, Virginia. This role is integral to our team, with responsibilities including paying vendors, processing check runs, reconciling payments, and supporting accounting projects. The ideal Accounts Payable Specialist candidate will be comfortable using Excel spreadsheets and various accounting software systems. Responsibilities: Ensure timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers, maintaining accurate records and control reports Prepare check runs and reconciliations Assist with Fixed Asset depreciation for month-end closing Support the Controller with various accounting projects Use accounting software systems to perform data entry and manage accounts Handle discrepancies in the accounts payable function Utilize Microsoft Excel to build spreadsheets and manage data Implement and maintain systems, procedures and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines Assist in monthly closing and management of accounts payable Provide customer service and support to internal departments and vendors with respect to various accounts payable inquiries. Requirements Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Accounts Payable Specialist role or similar Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel Experience in performing various Accounting Functions Familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP) procedures and processes Experience with Check Processing Proficiency in Data Entry tasks Ability to handle and resolve Discrepancies Experience in performing Reconciliations Knowledge of Fixed Assets management Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
