The people supporting and securing some of the most complex government, defense, and intelligence projects across the country. We are currently seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support Mainframe Database (DB2) Administration activities for the Bureau of Fiscal Service (BFS).Requirements:Candidates should have a BA/BS and 10+ years of experience, of which at least eight years must be specialized in the following duties:(Candidates with MA/MS degree can qualify with 8 years of experience, of which 6 years must be specialized experience in the duties below)(Candidates with no degree must have 13 years of experience, of which 11 years must be specialized in the duties below)CA-Datacom/DB experience is desirable.Platform Roles:

Collaborate with BFS on the initial installation and configuration of Mainframe DB2 tools in the database environments. Ensure Database services are readily available.

Collaborate with BFS on the initial installation and configuration of DB2 database environment in the private and public clouds as needed.

Ensure that data is available, protected from loss and corruption, and easily accessible as needed in the private and public cloud environments.

Management Roles

Evaluate/Test DB2 Software upgrades, bug fixes, and apply security patches as per defined BFS Policies, procedures, and change management.

Provide support for other structured and unstructured database platforms as needed. Experience with CA-Datacom/DB desirable.

Manage and maintain Mainframe DB2 DBMS Objects (e.g., Database, Tablespace, tables, index).

Create Database objects, jobs, replication scripts/definition when necessary.

Recommend/suggest DBMS architectural design when requested.

Implement approved recommendations/suggestions on DBMS design.

Support, recommend, and implement creation of views, indexes, and table extends. Implement physical Database changes in support of normal data growth.

Provide BFS with authorization and user account management Standards, procedures, and processes in compliance with defined BFS Policies and procedures.

Review and approve authorization and user account management Standards, procedures, and processes.

Perform authorization and user account management (e.g., IDs/groups/roles) in compliance with defined BFS Policies and procedures.

Provide account detail to identify type, owner, size, etc. for BFS to use to show showback/chargeback.

Provide, install, and maintain database performance, monitoring and management tools DB2 database platform.

Backup/Recovery Roles

Create and implement backup and recovery plans and procedures based on industry best practices. Provide solutions to improve cost, performance, and capability to recover.

Define Database backup and recovery requirements and approach to meet Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) requirements of individual application.

Manage database backup schedule according to customer requirements.

Monitor database backup success.

Perform Database restores to recover from hardware or database software problems.

Support Business Continuity testing, coordinating any resources required to support testing which are in the scope of services (including third parties).

Participate in Business Continuity testing.

Test restores from backups and test restored data.

Security Roles

Comply with defined BFS Security Standards.

Maintain database security access at database and object level.

Adhere to BFS’s IAM role-based access.

Jointly develop with BFS authorization requirements for users, roles, objects, etc., and approve Change requests.

Monitor and report user and administrator access activity.

Audit and review user activity report and report violations to BFS Security.

Monitor, audit, review and report database user and administrator activity and report violations to BFS Security.

Provide BFS with audit report as required.

Availability Roles

Manage DB2 database availability and resources.

Manage Database Space (allocated and used).

Manage Database Transaction Logs (active and inactive).

Manage and perform physical database maintenance (including running of appropriate utilities, jobs, scripts).

Manage DB2 database maintenance jobs.

Monitor size of the physical database objects.

Perform database object reorganization to improve performance, reclaim space etc.

Plan and execute database data loads/exports/imports as needed.

Create, test, and report results of component recovery plans.

Capacity Planning/Performance Roles

Provide forward looking business information to support capacity and performance planning for the PaaS environment based on consumption.

Conduct Database Capacity and Performance Planning (e.g., objectives, growth expectations, trends)

Monitor and manage databases for performance and capacity requirements.

Plan and implement physical DB2 DBMS performance improvements (e.g., resize logs, modify DB2 configuration, modify physical layout, etc.) to meet objectives.

Monitor and Analyze SQL Query performance.

Perform database performance tuning as required
