The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.Reporting to the Executive Director of Therapeutic Operations, the Incumbent, is responsible for leading the analysis, planning, implementation and evaluation of radiation oncology new business models and processes. Collaborates with the Executive Director of Therapeutic Operations, Houston area location medical directors and other members of the radiation therapeutics leadership team in the areas of strategic, tactical and performance improvement planning. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement marketing and outreach programs to enhance patient referrals to MDACC. The incumbent will identify, evaluate and recommend business and technology development opportunities across the region. Ensure strategies are implemented that target specific patient and geographic areas to enhance patient access and build appropriate volume in multi-site locations.This person is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and coordinating management and administrative systems related to clinical operations, capital equipment and metrics & KPIs, business planning, vendor relations, asset management. The Director works directly with the Director, Therapeutic Business Operations, Medical Directors and Administrative Leaders to ensure the success of Radiation Therapeutic services. The Director ensures that all radiation oncology operations are conducted according to the institutional and divisional missions to achieve excellence and value in the delivery of patient care and services. The person in this position must have strong knowledge of clinical, business, and financial operations and excellent interpersonal skills. The incumbent's knowledge base should include techniques for project management, volume projections, policy review, through-put analysis, and organizational effectiveness.The Director provides leadership and serves in an advisory capacity to Executive Director, Therapeutic Operations respect to all areas of center operations, facilities, and emerging technology within the division.KEY FUNCTIONSTherapeutic Radiation Operations Strategic Planning & Business Development Develops and fosters business and clinical relationships with division and departmental managers to support operational projects across disciplines and departments. Collaborates with service line teams to develop and monitor patient-centric care processes across the carePosition Description Associate Director, Operations continuum.Leads activities to identify and capitalize emerging economic and legislative opportunities, as well as market trends that position Radiation oncology operations as a competitive leader.Develops and fosters stakeholder relationships to establish and/or enhance MDACC's community presence and market position.Partners with various Institutional Advancement departments, including community relations, brand marketing presence/strategies, public relations and physician relations to develop and execute strategies aimed at increasing referrals.Collaborate with Therapeutics leadership on business development initiatives that expand MDACC's therapeutic operations patient reach through digital footprint, targeted marketing tactics and collaborations with University of Texas Systems and community partners.Capital Equipment and Service Contract Responsible for oversight of radiation oncology capital asset acquisition, service and maintenance agreements, asset management and replacement plans. Coordinates in collaboration with the Department of Radiation Physics, the effective and safe management of the clinical equipment and operations as well as the planning processes related to equipment replacement. Oversight of approximately $30 million in radiation oncology clinical facilities projects annually. Work in collaboration with Institutional facilities and clinical infrastructure to ensure the timely completion of each project to mitigate interruptions clinical operations Direct oversight of Radiation Oncology Operational and Administrative support. Including the oversight of development, of department business operations policy and procedures, facilities managementFinancial Management and Revenue Enhancement Discover potential avenues for increasing revenue within the radiation therapeutic services technical revenue. Collaborate with rad Onc faculty services line leads and new technology committee chairs to analyze upcoming technological advancements, clinical research opportunities, and industry trends that could influence patient volume and treatment options. Work with center operational leadership to Offer detailed explanations for any discrepancies in monthly activities to the executive director. collaborate with the director of business operations to pinpoint potential areas where costs can be minimized, and revenue can be maximized.EducationRequired: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field.ExperienceRequired: Seven years of progressive leadership experience, to include planning, directing and implementing operational services.Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.Preferred: Minimum Seven years of progressive leadership experience, to include planning, directing and implementing operational services. Demonstrated ability in the successful execution of noted director competencies related to business development, leadership, innovation, organization and communication is essential.
