Landscape Project Manager

Aplica ya

We are a small residential design/build landscape company based in South Austin. We specialize in integrating softscapes and hardscapes to provide our clients with a comprehensive outdoor living experience. We have been in business for over 15 years and are now seeking to scale for continued growth. A qualified Landscape Project Manager will help us achieve this goal.

The role of the project manager is to oversee and ensure the completion of the company landscape/ maintenance projects from start to finish. You will be responsible for reading, studying, understanding, and explaining the details of the project designs/blueprints to the Crew Leader, skilled team craftsman, and subcontractors. You will also be the primary contact person for all the clients for whom we perform our landscape services. Communication is an essential skill for this role. You will be communicating extensively with the owner, crew leader, vendors, clients, and other subcontractors. Additionally, you will be required to regularly “roll up” your sleeves and physically assist with the projects as needed. This is a role where you lead from the front and by example, not solely by providing verbal instruction.

Project Management Responsibilities:

1. Study the Designs of the new project to become familiar with them and then communicate the details to crew leaders/subcontractors for the implementation of the design.

2. Meet with Driver(s) at the shop every morning to ensure that the correct tools/materials, etc., are loaded into the truck/trailer(s).

3. You should have at least three points of communication with the crew leader daily.

a. In the morning at the shop while helping the driver. This is a final check in before the driver leaves the shop to make sure what is needed for the day's responsibilities are loaded.

b. Just before lunch, contact the crew leader and make sure that we are on track to accomplish daily objectives, and or what we need to adjust to do so.

c. At the end of the day, before the crew leader leaves the job site to review the day and plan for the next day.

4. On the first day of a new project, walk through the project with the crew leader and familiarize him with all the elements of the project.

5. Establish clear-cut goals for the crew leader on a daily/weekly basis.

6. Contact the appropriate vendors to supply the plants, materials, and equipment for the job.

7. Ensure that the correct plants, materials, and equipment are delivered to the job.

8. Contact TDS to order a Porta-Potty for each job.

9. Contact TX One Call one week before the start of each project to ensure that electrical, gas, and water lines are marked.

10. Monitor the progress of jobs and make sure that the crew has the necessary tools and resources to complete the job according to schedule.

11. Make trips to vendors as needed to procure materials/tools for the execution of the project.

12. Update the company owner on the status of each project daily by phone call and texts as needed.

13. Be available and willing to discuss project-related issues with the client.

14. Generally oversee and manage the completion of a project from beginning to completion.

15. Assist with advice and physical labor when needed, and especially with technical construction elements.

16. Contact/Coordinate with subcontractors in the execution of projects.

17. Consult the designer on complex structural elements and City Codes related to those elements.

18. Have a general awareness of the crew's (individuals') well-being and bring perceived needs and problems to the company owner.

19. Perform final walk-through of the property upon completion of the job with the design and job specifications in hand to make sure that the work was completed to our standard as a company. Turn in the job completion form.

20. Have the freedom to make recommendations to the company owner that you might feel ensure a more positive outcome to the relevant project.

Please have an understanding that your role is one that will grow, develop, and crystallize as we learn together. With that in mind, having a positive, investigative, and pioneering attitude is a must for this position.
