Makan, an upscale casual Malaysian restaurant downtown, is seeking a sous chef to be part of our opening team.
Come work with and learn from chef James Wozniuk, a 3-time Michelin Bib Gourmand awarded chef.
We are seeking an individual with a great attitude, high energy, and a strong work ethic.
Start date is May 21st; opening date is June 4th.
Must have flexible availability pre-opening. After opening we will be closed every Sunday-Monday. No lunches, no brunches.
Responsibilities:
-Provide supportive leadership to kitchen staff throughout service
-Help with hiring and training of new kitchen staff
-Take charge of kitchen opening, closing and other side duties
-Ensure kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements
-Manage kitchen inventory and ensure supplies are fresh and of high quality
-Practice strong knife skills and working knowledge of kitchen equipment such as grills, woks, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation
