If a position is listed with both office locations and virtual offerings, Comcast may be willing to consider candidates who live greater than 100 miles from the office for the remote option.)Job SummaryThe Comcast Cloud team is seeking an experienced OpenStack engineer to help us design, build and operate a highly resilient and performant platform for critical Telco and Enterprise applications.Job DescriptionWe are looking for a candidate that has strong OpenStack private cloud engineering and/or operations experience, any RedHat and/or Ceph storage experience is a plus. Be part of a dynamic DevOps team responsible for all aspects of the cloud platform including maintaining the hardware, OS, middleware, storage systems, networking, virtualization software, orchestration software, cloud tenant administration and capacity management. The variance in work makes the day to day work interesting. One day you can be troubleshooting a hardware problem, tor performing upgrades, or writing code for an automation playbook or perform QA performance testing on the equipment. There will be opportunities to work on some of the latest cloud technologies as we work to help design, deploy, and operate the next generation cloud platforms. We work closely with our customers and operate the platform in a way to ensure it’s highly reliability. As we are a DevOps team, there will be an expectation to support maintenance work in some evenings and be part of an on-call rotation with the team. Core Responsibilities

Be part of a DevOps cloud team that works closely together on the design, automation, building, testing, deploying, and operating of OpenStack cloud s with associated Ceph storag e that is consistent with product and technical roadmaps.

Responsibilities may include troubleshooting and fixing HW/SW problem s as they arise, working to limit downtime and impact on tenant applications. Perform deployments, upgrades, configuration changes, security updates as required to meet business objectives and deadlines.

Partners with Engineering project Manager to provide consultative direction and develops long term objectives and plans to determine resources, technology, and course of action to achieve results.

Works with Other members of cross functional teams, joint ventures, third party vendors and Company’s product managers and marketing teams to deliver quality products, in a timely fashion, that meet defined requirements. Establishes and maintains working relationships within GTO , product development teams, joint ventures, vendors, and contractors.

Participates in Company product lifecycle process. contributes to and/or Creates product and technical requirements, detailed design Documents including transaction, capacity and bandwidth models, systems definitions, and operational procedures as part of this process.

Understands key business drivers and applies the knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products and services.

Anticipates and Interprets customer needs, assesses requirements, and identifies solutions.

Ensures that projects are properly accepted into the Engineering team, worked on timely and efficiently and smoothly transitioned into quality assurance and operations teams.

Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends complete solutions based on best practices and Proven technologies.

solves complex problems. Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.

Provides guidance for the performance and reliability of various cross platform applications and services. Ensures that system failures are restored in a timely manner .

Participates in the review of failures and Provides feedback to prevent future occurrences.

C onsistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary. An on-call shift may be required for approx. 1 week period every 8–12 weeks (about 3 months). Subject to change.

Minimum Requirements:

6-8 years designing, building, and operating OpenStack environments supporting high availability (99.99% availability), low latency enterprise applications.

5+ years proficiency in automation and DevOps tools such as Ansible, AWX, Terraform, GitHub

5+ years proficiency with IP Networks and networking design and operations

5+ years hands on experience with server hardware deployments, maintenance, and troubleshooting

Strong Linux administration skills

Strong soft skills,

Good to Haves:

E xperience deploying and operating RedHat OpenStack and/or RedHat OpenShift platforms

Experience engineering and/or operating SAN or C EPH storage systems

5+ years' experience with administering and operating HPE/Dell hardware and firmware

3+ years VoIP (voice over IP) and Telco experience

Proficiency in coding such as Python for automation playbooks

Experience designing, building, and operating Kubernetes platforms desired, but not required .

Experience designing, building, deploying and operating Ceph storage in production environments.
