Looking to hire a competent automotive machinist’s assistant for our small machine shop - proudly serving the East County and Parkrose areas, since 1993. Duties include performing whatever tasks the machinist needs assistance with - pressure testing cylinder head castings, washing and/or media blasting cylinder heads and their parts, answering the telephones and various questions for customers, taking walk-in clients, evaluating their needs and assisting with necessary service.
This particular business specializes in automotive cylinder heads, exclusively - no complete engine builds, or engine block work - strictly cylinder heads. Looking for someone to train under our master machinist and, eventually, be able to perform all duties in the shop.

In a perfect world, the ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:
- Have some automotive experience, with a competent background and understanding of engine components and how they work
- The ability to work a 40 hour, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4 pm schedule, with reliable transportation
- Capable of lifting 50-75 lbs, from time to time
- A basic mathematics understanding and the ability to read a micrometer and use it to take measurements
