Job Description

Title: Family Manager & Household Support

Employment Type: Part-time (20-25 hours/week)

Proposed Start Date: ASAP

Compensation: $30–$35/hour, based on experience

Requirements: Non-smoker, pass background check, has transportation, fully vaccinated

Proposed Schedule:

Monday - Thursday. Regular hours from 2–7 pm for school pickups, child related activities, dinner prep, and evening transitions, with weekly earlier start time for household prep and organization

Additional hours spread throughout the week for errands, organization, and family support

Flexibility to adjust as needed for travel, special events, or school schedules

About the Family:

We are a warm and active family of five with three school-aged children (14, 11, and 9 years old). Our eldest child is highly capable and independent and our two younger children are sweet and energetic and working on building executive functioning, accountability, and independence in household responsibilities such as making beds, doing laundry, and putting away dishes. We’re a tree nut-free household. Both parents work full-time, one in a role requiring regular travel and the other in a demanding job from a dedicated home office. We also have a 4-year-old, affectionate Bernedoodle who is a beloved part of the family. We value a reliable presence who will grow with us over time, bringing both structure and joy to help our household run smoothly.

You’re flexible, warm, fun, and naturally connect with kids and pets. You take ownership, communicate well, and can balance structure with playfulness.

Key Responsibilities:

Household Management & Organization:

-Maintain household organization systems (closets, pantry, storage, toys)

-Reset and tidy common areas daily; help prepare home for bi-weekly cleaning service

-Conduct seasonal swaps for clothing, bedding, and décor

-Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs/pick-ups

-Support packing/unpacking for family travel

-Coordinate with vendors/service providers (cleaners, landscapers, repairs)

-Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas, take out trash and recycling.

Inventory & Errands:

-Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies

-Create and manage running household supply lists

-Coordinate and manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)

-Run errands: groceries, returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping

-Handle packages, mail sorting, and deliveries ensuring all gets put away

Meal Prep & Planning:

-Plan and prepare 2–3 healthy dinners/week (with enough for lunch leftovers)

-Plan menus with consideration for food preferences (Selective eaters, vegetarian, tree nut allergy)

-Prep kids’ lunches and snacks

-Grocery shopping for meal prep and household staples

-Clean kitchen post-prep and manage kitchen tidiness

Laundry & Linen Care:

-Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (including dog bedding)

-Rotate bedding, refresh towels, and keep laundry area stocked

-Steam/iron clothing as needed

-Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies

Pet Care:

-Feed and walk dog

-Wash dog bowl nightly

-Schedule and coordinate grooming appointments

-Keep pet areas clean and organized

Vehicle Management:

-Help with child pick up and transporting to activities

-Schedule and oversee maintenance, oil changes, and inspections

-Ensure vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and organized

-Track registration, insurance, and service schedules

Family Support:

-Review paperwork sent home from school and assist in relaying important messages to parents

-Help with school pick up and transporting children to after school activities (e.g., sports, hobbies, playdates, library, etc.)

-Provide after-school structure (snacks, homework oversight, dinner prep)

-Occasional evening or overnight care when parents travel

-Provide child care/supervision for occasional date nights

Vendor & Property Oversight:

-Schedule and supervise service providers (cleaners, contractors, landscapers)

-Research and coordinate maintenance, and quotes for routine home upkeep

-Oversee outdoor spaces and seasonal maintenance needs

-Serve as primary contact for vendors or guests

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects:

-Organize special projects: toy storage, seasonal decorations, cycling out clothing sizes, gear rotation, etc.

-Tackle occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards, etc.)

-Organize and refresh mudroom, garage, and seasonal storage

-Maintain humidifiers, air purifiers, and appliances (e.g., washing machines) monthly

Administrative Support

-Manage family calendar and reminders (Google Calendar)

-Schedule appointments (kids, pets, household)

-Assist with camp/activity research for kids

-Oversee household schedules and calendars

-Help with travel planning, scheduling, and logistics
