Description:Providence is calling a Health Unit Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.

Magnet Medical Center

Large Urban Hospital with 483 Beds

All ED Beds have their own rooms

46 Bed Unit

Specific Psychiatric Hold Rooms

Annual (2017) Emergency department visits: 61,623

In this position, you will:

Be a key person within the nursing unit, who provides overall administrative and technical assistance and support in the operation of the assigned nursing unit; and collaborates with other staff and leaders in the development, oversight, and operation of the unit.

Be the hub of all communication to and from the nursing unit; and greatly impacts the 'tone' of the unit/shift.

Qualifications:Required qualifications for this position include:

High school diploma or equivalent

Medical terminology course or experience

1 year of experience performing secretarial duties in healthcare or equivalent training in a recognized healthcare program

Proficient in word processing, experience with a variety of software applications

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Satisfactory completion of health unit coordinator course work or equivalent knowledge

Certification through the National Association of Health Unit Coordinators

1 year of post high school education

Previous experience as a preceptor/role model
