Complete building renovations involving all the above technical services.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe successful candidate should possess:

Knowledge of the standard practices and methods of carpentry, roofing, painting, and masonry trades

Knowledge of tools and materials used in repairing and constructing wooden articles

Knowledge of elementary arithmetic and units of measure

Knowledge of the safety precautions of the various trades.

Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings, or sketches

Ability to make accurate arithmetical calculations

Ability to perform tasks which require walking, standing, bending, stooping, and working in awkward positions

Ability to lift moderately heavy objects cutting, bending, securing, wrapping, or finishing the surface of pipes, vents, ducts, drywall, and other materials

Skilled in the use of carpenters’ hand tools and woodworking machines

Skilled in mixing paints and in matching and blending colors

Skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment used in the variously assigned trades.

Minimum Education/ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Mentors other technicians.Duties: Provide emergency unscheduled repairs, reads and interprets work orders to perform maintenance. Use a variety of hand and power tools, and material handling equipment in performing duties. Basic understanding of carpentry, minor maintenance roofing and painting, make minor maintenance and aesthetical changes to electrical and plumbing fixtures.Required Competency Problem SolvingDutiesIdentifies facilities-related maintenance problems that require in-depthanalysis, and identifies options for solvingthose problems. Solve unusual facilitymaintenance problems that require theapplication of journey level trades knowledgeand determines the most effective and efficient course of action. Gathers andanalyzes/interprets information to betterunderstand the nature of the problem. Mayseek input from subordinates, peers, and/ormanagers in the decision-making process inorder to solve the problem. Evaluates options and chooses appropriate action by considering potential outcomes. Makes sure that problem is appropriately addressed.Duties: Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments. Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.Required Competency Attention to DetailDutiesEnsures all work meets and/or exceeds applicable codes and standards. Checks and re-checks work prior to, during, and after completion. Ensures that all parts of a project/task are completed. Uses appropriate record keeping methods.Duties: Follow work order instructions to completion. Makes general repairs to roof, floors, cabinets, glass and desk with accuracy. Uses time effectively and does not let distractions interfere with completion of the job/project.Duties:Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities. Determines appropriate protective equipment based on established standards. Regularly assesses site and shop operations for safety and complies with safety regulations to maintain clean and orderly work areas.
