Description We are a reputable non-profit organization seeking an experienced Staff Accountant for a contract-to-hire position. If you have a passion for general accounting and love using your skills to help support and contribute to deserving causes, then this opportunity is for you.This role requires a minimum of 5 years of general accounting experience, and the ideal candidate will be highly proficient in performing a range of accounting duties.Key Responsibilities:
Manage the general ledger and conduct monthly and year-end closings.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure data integrity.
Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any financial discrepancies.
Assist with the yearly budgeting process and periodic budget reviews.
Ensure each department adheres to budget guidelines and policies.
Assure compliance with state, federal, and non-profit accounting regulations and standards.
Assist in auditing activities and collaboration with external auditors.
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in general accounting.
ACPA or CMA certification is an advantage, although not a prerequisite.
Proficient in accounting software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
Meticulous attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and regulations is a plus.
