Great opportunities.If you’d like the chance to make your mark with the world’s largest equipment rental provider, come build your future with United Rentals!As an Accountant I (Charlotte, NC) at United Rentals, you will be responsible for performing major functions of the monthly corporate accounting close process for a multi-billion dollar company with operations throughout the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Must be knowledgeable in relevant accounting concepts, practices and procedures; rely on experience and judgment to independently plan and accomplish goals; and be able to adapt to changes well. Duties include performing general ledger account reconciliations, monthly close tasks, financial statement analysis, and providing accounting support to region and internal corporate departments as necessary.This is a challenging yet rewarding position. You’ll be proud of your team and the work we all do in providing the equipment that helps safely build our communities.What you’ll do:​Perform monthly close processes and account reconciliations in support of the monthly close process.

Perform balance sheet account reconciliations; explain period fluctuations and research/clear account transactions.

Perform monthly close processes with valuable analyses to support general ledger journal entries timely and accurately.

Perform roll forward schedules for selected general ledger accounts.

Analyze financial statements on a monthly basis as compared to forecast and budget and provide meaningful variance analysis.

Perform General Ledger system administrator tasks to ensure sub-ledger interface feeds into General Ledger are accurate and complete.

Create/ update instructions for current procedures/processes.

Provide support to various Corporate Functions, such as Finance, Treasury, Tax, Corporate Marketing, Legal, Corporate Risk and Benefits, as well as Operations.

Provide financial reporting support and perform monthly analysis of actual results as compared to forecast/budget.

Provide accounting guidance and other assistance to the Accounting Services Group as needed.

Perform ad hoc analyses. Utilize accounting knowledge and experience to provide sound analysis and data driven recommendations to management.

Collect and analyze accounting data and prepare special reports, as required

Provide financial data related to assigned responsibilities to fulfill both internal and external requests for financial data efficiently.

Analyze and provide explanations of income statement and balance sheet account fluctuations.

Respond to internal and external audit requests adequately and in a timely manner (includes Sarbanes-Oxley testing.)

Identify and communicate process improvement opportunities to management as well as providing supporting role on various projects assigned by management.Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting or Finance degree or comparable work experience required. CPA/CMA designation or MBA preferred

Public and/or private accounting experience preferred

Excellent PC skills (MS Office including advanced Excel skills)

Financial accounting software skills preferred

Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills

Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as necessary
