POSITION: Administrative Assistant

LOCATION: Ridgewood (Queens), NY.

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 9:30am – 5:30pm.

JOB DESCRIPTION: A small NYC-based civil rights firm is seeking an Administrative Assistant for an immediate start date. The firm is justice-oriented and much of the work is done pro bono. The Administrative Assistant will assist the Office Manager with a wide range of tasks as needed, to help ensure the day-to-day operations of the firm run smoothly. This role requires working directly with attorneys, clients, courts, and law firm support staff.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Office Manager with managing the busy schedules of several attorneys to ensure compliance with deadlines as well as the rules of individual judges and courts, take detailed notes during internal and external meetings as needed, assist with requesting documents and diligently follow up with requests, send out mailings, update clients on important upcoming dates and deadlines, and help keep documents organized within our internal filing systems. There may be additional tasks as needed.

REQUIREMENTS: The ideal applicant will be organized, punctual, reliable, eager to learn, flexible, and comfortable speaking up and asking questions. The right person for this role will be excited at the prospect of working in a fast-paced environment and being part of a small team. There is no educational or degree requirement. Must have experience with Microsoft Suite, Dropbox, Adobe Acrobat or other software or case managements systems. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
