Position Overview: We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Court Document Courier and Administrative Assistant. This position combines administrative responsibilities with regular travel to civil courts across New York City. The ideal candidate is highly organized, professional, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Paralegal experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
This position is perfect for students or recent graduates looking to gain office experience while enjoying a dynamic workday that includes significant time outside the office. You'll stay active by traveling to various NYC civil courts and handling hands-on tasks, making it a great balance between desk work and physical activity.
Key Responsibilities:
Document Delivery and Retrieval: Transport legal documents to and from NYC civil courts promptly and securely.
Court Filings: File required documents at designated court offices and ensure proper processing.
Mail Duties: Organize, sort, and prepare outgoing mail.
Administrative Support: Assist with general office tasks, such as data entry, maintaining records, and filing.
Confidentiality: Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
Requirements:
Experience: Previous experience in legal administration or courier services preferred.
Knowledge of NYC Courts: Familiarity with the layout and processes of New York City civil courts is a plus.
Transportation: Must be comfortable navigating NYC public transportation in Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn.
Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Physical Ability: Ability to lift and carry documents or packages weighing up to 25 lbs.
