Who are we?
5s is looking for an experienced line cook to join our team. We are getting ready to launch a brand new small restaurant concept in the East Village NYC. 5s is a kitchen counter and bar with a very simple and fresh ethos: 5 seasonal Asian dishes, 5 craft cocktails, 5 local draft taps, 5 classic beer cans & 5 wines.
What are we looking for?
5s is an open plan kitchen and bar with limited seating directly at the kitchen counter. Because of this, we are looking for an experienced line cook that also has some front of house or service experience. In this role you will be expected to engage with and serve the customers seated at the kitchen counter. This is a unique and amazing opportunity to earn higher wages as you’ll be included in the tip pool. We are looking for someone who wants to be at our venue long term.
Duties/Qualifications
- Ability to cook desired meat and seafood items to restaurant standard
- 2 year minimum experience working in a professional kitchen
- Willingness to serve and engage with guests with a positive attitude
- Team Player, People Skills, Punctual, Sense of Urgency, Efficiency, Knife Skills
- Set up station according to restaurant standards and guidelines to ensure a smooth, efficient service
- Understand the menu to estimate food requirements and procure food from storage
- Read and follow recipes provided with precision to ensure efficient production
- Ability to close 4 shifts a week between 12am - 1am
- Food Handler’s Certificate preferred, or willingness to acquire one.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
What are we offering?
4 shifts per week / 38hrs
Minimum wage plus tips between $25 - $40 per hour
