As we expand our operations into meal kits in Brooklyn, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Catering Back-of-House Manager / Catering Chef to join our team and help us maintain our high standards of excellence.
Position Overview: The Catering BoH Manager/Chef will oversee kitchen operations, ensuring the production of high-quality meals, managing a team, and ensuring smooth execution of orders. This role requires a strong culinary background, leadership skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. As we scale, the role will include packaged meal production for 3000 to 10,000 meals a week.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage kitchen staff to ensure the timely and efficient production of meals for events and meal kits.
Oversee food preparation and presentation to meet company standards.
Develop and implement kitchen procedures to ensure food safety and cleanliness.
Manage inventory and ordering of ingredients, ensuring optimal stock levels.
Monitor food costs, waste, and labor to maintain profitability.
Develop new menu items and recipes at scale.
Work collaboratively with the chef owner, etc. to develop and manage a pipeline of new recipes.
regularly report to off-site management on key success metrics, obstacles, and culinary development
Maintain and manage kitchen equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Work collaboratively with other departments, including packaging and logistics, as we expand into meal kit production.
TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE IN PRODUCTION ON A DAILY BASIS.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Chef or Kitchen Manager in a high-volume catering or food production environment.
Strong culinary skills and ability to manage multiple food production areas.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Proficient in computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and scheduling/order management software.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Attention to detail and high standards of quality control.
Additional Qualifications:
NYC DoH Certified is a MUST.
Knowledge of meal kit production and packaging is a plus.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Spanish-speaking skills are a plus but not required.
Experience with Japanese cuisine (non-sushi) a plus.
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, ranging from $75,000.00 to $90,000.00. Benefits include paid time off and opportunities for growth within the company.
