Job Title: Cemetery Site Manager

West Point National Cemetery, New York

Position Type: Full-time

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cemetery Site Manager to lead the operations of our cemetery, with a special focus on honoring our fallen Veterans in a Military National Cemetery. The Site Manager will oversee all aspects of cemetery operations, including burial services, grounds maintenance, customer service, and staff management. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of cemetery management, including knowledge of contracts and Statements of Work specific to Military National Cemeteries.

Responsibilities:

1. Operational Leadership: Lead and coordinate all activities related to cemetery operations, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and the Statement of Work.

2. Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise cemetery staff, fostering a culture of respect, compassion, and excellence in service delivery.

3. Customer Service: Interact with bereaved families, funeral directors, and visitors with empathy and professionalism, ensuring their needs are met with sensitivity and care.

4. Contract Compliance: Ensure compliance with all aspects of the contract governing the operation of the cemetery, including burial procedures, maintenance standards, and reporting requirements.

5. Grounds Maintenance: Oversee landscaping, lawn care, and maintenance activities, ensuring the cemetery grounds are maintained to the highest standards of beauty and reverence.

6. Financial Management: Monitor budgetary expenditures, revenue generation activities, and financial performance metrics, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accountability.

7. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of burials, and other relevant data, utilizing cemetery management software and databases.

8. Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with the COR of the project, and the cemetery managers.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Cemetery Management, or related field preferred.

- Previous experience in cemetery management, with a strong understanding of government contracts and Statements of Work.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Knowledge of cemetery operations, burial practices, and funeral customs.

- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing cemetery operations.

- Proficiency in computer software applications, including cemetery management software and Microsoft Office Suite, Asana, Microsoft Teams

- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

- OSHA 10 Certification and Application License.

Additional Qualifications:

- MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN USING EXCAVATING EQUIPMENT

- MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN RESETTING AND REALIGNING CEMETERY STONES

- Experience working on a Military National Cemetery for our fallen Veterans is highly desirable.

- Understanding of and respect for military customs, traditions, and protocols.

- Sensitivity to the unique needs and emotions of families of fallen veterans.

- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of dignity and reverence in all aspects of cemetery operations.
