SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis (15-20 hours per week). This position will support weekly payroll processing for our temporary workforce and provide general accounting support to the Head of Accounting. The ideal candidate is reliable, knowledgeable in payroll regulations and deductions, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment across multiple states. Flexibility is important, as this role may require additional hours during weeks when the Head of Accounting is out of the office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Process weekly payroll for temporary employees accurately and on schedule
Calculate and manage deductions including healthcare and 401(k) contributions
Ensure payroll compliance across multiple states
Assist with general bookkeeping and support the Head of Accounting with various accounting functions
Provide additional coverage during weeks when the Head of Accounting is out, including increased hours as needed
Maintain and update payroll records and reports as needed
Provide support during audits or compliance reviews
Stay informed of relevant labor laws; familiarity with wage and hour regulations is a plus
QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of relevant experience in payroll processing and bookkeeping
Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, benefit deductions, and tax regulations
Experience with QuickBooks required.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently
