The Inn at Hancock is New Hampshire's oldest continuously operating country inn and tavern. Founded circa 1789, the Inn has been the subject to a 2-year historic $7.5M restoration and property investment. Our luxury country inn offers guests accommodations in 15 guest suites as well as four distinct dining offerings adorned in traditional bespoke decor and period antique furnishings.

The Pastry Chef/Baker responsible for preparing and baking various goods, such as desserts, cakes, cookies, pies, and breads, following both traditional and modern recipes. The Pastry Chef/ also creates new and unique desserts to enhance our menus and engage our guests’ dining experience. The essence of the role is an attention to the detail, consistency, and quality of our desserts and baked products and an ability to make them an important part of each meal. The ideal candidate for this role has baking and pastry experience in fine dining, high-end catering or high-end bakery.
Responsibilities include:
Working with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to develop our bread program and desserts which complement and enhance our cuisine
Creating, decorating, and plating fine desserts
Preparing and baking breads and other baked goods
Monitoring stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and making appropriate orders within budget
Checking quality of stocks both new and in storage and reviewing condition of equipment and devices used for cooking
Maintaining cleanliness of all baking areas, machinery and equipment used in the baking process and all work surfaces
Be familiar with all inn services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
Be completely knowledgeable about the property and its layout, including all guest accommodations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
Strong background in culinary arts and a genuine passion for creating desserts, breads, and sweets
Knowledge of food safety practices and laws pertaining to breads and desserts, including correct temperatures for service
Ability to think clearly, act quickly, maintain concentration, and make concise decisions under pressure
Strong attention to detail, ability to follow directions thoroughly, and outstanding organizational skills
Ability to function as an integral part of a team, working collaboratively and respectfully with co-workers, but also perform job functions proactively and with minimal supervision

Education and Experience:
High school graduate, GED, or equivalent training certificate
Culinary and/or pastry training
At least two years’ experience working in baking and pastry
