We are looking for a Shop Foreman to join our team the Shop Foreman plays a pivotal role in overseeing the efficient operation of a construction company's equipment and maintenance shop. This multifaceted position demands strong leadership, technical proficiency, and organizational acumen to ensure equipment readiness and seamless project execution.
Duties include:
1. Inventory Management:
- Maintain meticulous records of equipment, tools, and materials inventory, including shop consumables, tools, bulk welding materials, and wash bay consumables.
- Monitor inventory levels and facilitate procurement as necessary.
- Conduct routine audits to uphold inventory accuracy.
- Keep detailed records of ordered parts, deliveries, spare keys for all units, and stock parts used for repairs.
2. Equipment Maintenance:
- Supervise maintenance and repair operations for construction equipment and tools, both on-site and in the shop.
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the functionality and accuracy of camera systems and Geotabs.
3. Team Supervision:
- Lead and manage shop technicians and support staff, including fuelers, transport drivers, welders, and yard hands.
- Assign tasks and prioritize work orders to meet repair and maintenance demands efficiently.
- Provide comprehensive training and mentorship to enhance team capabilities.
- Maintain accurate timecards, work orders, and uphold shop and yard organization standards.
4. Safety Compliance:
- Enforce rigorous safety protocols and procedures within the shop environment.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and address any identified hazards or violations promptly.
- Foster a culture of safety consciousness and compliance among shop and field personnel.
5. Budget Management:
- Assist in formulating and managing the shop's budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
- Monitor expenditures closely, identifying opportunities for cost-saving measures.
- Report on budget variances and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of purchase orders issued to technicians and vendors, along with repair records linked to specific job numbers or work orders.
6. Communication and Coordination:
- Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to meet project requirements seamlessly.
- Coordinate effectively with vendors and suppliers for equipment parts and repair services.
- Provide regular updates on shop activities and inventory status to relevant stakeholders.
- Facilitate coordination with external vendors for outsourced service calls and repairs.
Qualifications:
- OSHA 30 Construction Industry
- Proven experience in equipment management and maintenance, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction equipment, tools, and materials.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
