This is an entry level position. The Mill Trainee is expected to learn how to perform all tasks in the mill safely and effectively.Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.

0-6 months of work experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to read a micrometer and a tape measure.

Ability to safely drive a forklift or other mobile equipment.

Environmental safety and health rules and regulations training (OHSA) training.

Ability to become certified to operate mobile equipment (forklift).

Basic math skills.

Ability to operate cranes, hoists, and rigging.

Responsibilities:

Perform daily preventive maintenance to the rolling mill.

Assure that all needed production supplies are available (i.e. pallets, banding, tape, protective wrappings).

Complete all daily end-of-shift housekeeping tasks.

Assist the Assistant Mill Operator in the processing of all finished rolling mill products.

Assist the QC Packaging Operator.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment, Physical and Lifting:

Regularly required to wear personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to, respirator, hearing protection and eyewear, and to work near moving, mechanical parts. Exposed to moderate noise levels.

Regularly requires standing and walking; frequently requires talking, hearing, grasping, driving, climbing or balancing, and repetitive movement; occasionally requires feeling attributes of objects, pushing, and reaching with hands/arms. Requires clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, the ability to judge distance and spatial relationships, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.

Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds.
