Join the talented, engaged and inclusive workforce dedicated to creating a better Minnesota.This posting will be used to fill three (3) vacant positions.This position provides the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) with legal review and support services relating to the regulatory oversight and rulemaking aspects of the office. This position will research state level cannabis regulatory environments, draft memorandum and participate in meetings and work groups related to legal research assignments. This position will learn about attorney-client privilege, Minnesota Chapter 13 (Minnesota Data Practices Act).This position is located in St. Paul and may have the ability to telework part of the time.Minimum QualificationsCurrently enrolled in a J.D. program and completed at least on year of study at an ABA approved law school.Excellent research and writing skills. (A writing sample will be requested of applicants invited for interview)Student Worker eligibility status:To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student you must be enrolled in high school or in a post-secondary or graduate program. If a student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.Preferred QualificationsExperience on Law Review or another Legal Journal.Coursework in administrative law, statutory interpretation, agriculture, cannabis and/or food safety.An interest in state government, rulemaking and/or cannabis.Additional RequirementsA job offer will be contingent upon successfully passing a background check.
