We need YOU!Where the Chemistry HappensIn this position, as a Research Technician in our Thermoplastic Polyurethane R&D group of Performance Material Division (located in Wyandotte, Michigan), you will be responsible for carrying out research activities in the lab that relate to thermoplastic polyurethane materials. The candidate will perform tasks under the direction of research scientists and occasionally independently. The work includes exploratory and applied research on the synthesis, characterization, and processing of thermoplastic polyurethanes. This position’s responsibilities include formulation, operating and maintaining polymer processing equipment such as injection molders and extruders; managing material inventories; and communicating with internal and external suppliers, testing facilities, and occasionally customers.As a Research Technician II, You Create Chemistry By Maintain and co-operate to keep the laboratory safe for you and others. Be a reliable team player. Keep all task request organized, be mindful about data quality, and proactively communicate results in a timely manner All work must be carried out in good collaboration and discussion with other technicians and scientists working in the group. Work with the team and plant coordinator in prioritization of urgent work requests and weekly planning Carry out research activities in polymer synthesis, polymer processing, and testing in laboratories. Responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance of thermoplastic processing equipment such as extruders and injection molders Maintain clear and accurate records of the work performed through timely entering, updating, and closing projects in a database Contribute to writing standard operating procedures and job safety analyses for laboratory tasks and equipment Capable of working in a structured environment where activities are governed by written procedures Strict adherence to established safety standards in the organizationIf you Have a High School Diploma or GED and three years of working experience in chemical industry or relevant industry. Have hands-on experience with polymer or plastics processing equipment Have experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Basic knowledge of data analysis in Microsoft’s Excel is required. Have a good understanding of basic physical and chemical sciences such as organic chemistry, and materials physics. Are curious, ambitious, and passionate about research and innovation.
