Reporting to the Managing Director, the individual in this role will be responsible for a variety of strategic projects, management of the Multidisciplinary pilot award program and the establishment of business policies and comprehensive project processes in support of institute initiatives. The institute aims to bring current and new U-M researchers together to unravel the biological mechanisms that the heart and brain have in common, as well as how these organs signal to each other and impact clinical outcomes. The institute is situated in the heart of Michigan Medicine at the North Campus Research Complex in a newly renovated laboratory building within steps of a multitude of research resources, easy access to collaborators, and research services.Mission StatementMichigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Under general direction, responsible for the management, performance, and completion of multiple concurrent projects, and provide a single point of contact for those projects. Assembling project teams, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, tracking milestones, project deliverables and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of project.

Senior PM supporting Center Director for newly awarded AHA Strategically Focused Research Network (SFRN) on Inflammation in Cardiac and Neurovascular Disease.

Collaborates with business process owners and provides project scoping direction and set up. Ensure a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the project plan, to align the stakeholders and team members.

Prepares written communications, such as committee reports and presentations, for a variety of audiences, including senior leadership.

Effectively coordinates and facilitates communication planning and deliverables for projects and initiatives.

Build mutual trust and encourage respect and cooperation among team members.

Helps identify opportunities for operational effectiveness which may include identifying and securing needed resources and new partnerships.

Develops and implements operational processes, monitoring and evaluation measures, and deliverables.

Leverages existing expertise and resources and partners with other centers and institute and the broader Medical School team members (in finance, events, research project management) to create effective and meaningful business policies and comprehensive processes for the Institute.

Supports the Neurosciences Graduate Program Student Scholar and relationship with the NGP leadership team.

Acts as the Multidisciplinary Pilot Award Program Manager

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with at least 7-10 years of considerable progressively responsible experience in project management or similar type experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to independently manage complex projects.

Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management, techniques, and tools.

Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to achieve results.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once.

Desired Qualifications

Sponsored project management and pre/post award experience with ORSP and internal process partners

Familiarity with NIH, AHA and other and external funding agencies

Experience in academic setting managing and prioritizing multiple different projects.
