The Center brings together faculty and students from across the U-M community, leveraging expertise from multiple disciplines in pursuit of novel solutions to global health challenges that can positively impact individuals in low-resource settings.The Center is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Intermediate Manager who will help to advance the Center's new and emerging initiatives focused on India; manage the Center's internal grants programs, including monitoring the progress of awarded projects; and advise Center Leadership on the alignment of resources with core services, signature funding programs, and educational and research opportunities that support a diverse group of U-M faculty members. Working under the direction of the Center's Executive Director and Managing Director, this individual will support and lead efforts to design, develop and evaluate initiatives that are conceptualized through collaborative efforts of U-M faculty, international partners, and external stakeholders. Overseeing implementation of projects in international settings

Provide supervision of on-the-ground activities; ensure adherence to protocols, monitor and address timeline issues,

Interface with partners to ensure smooth implementation and identify when changes need to be made

Conduct project meetings, track and analyze project progress; report on progress to Center leadership

Prepare progress reports for partners and funders as needed

Support dialogue and education between NGOs, academia and government offices to ensure effective and efficient policy engagement

Managing internal grants program

Update application and Qualtrics review forms as needed

Meet with prospective applicants and review draft proposals as requested

Lead review process of applications with CGHE leadership team

Plan for pitch sessions for teams to present and ensure leadership team attendance and expert reviewers? input

Prepare reports, presentations, and draft correspondence related to internal grants for leadership review

Schedule and manage kick off, check in and closing team meetings

Follow up on requests for extensions and other changes that may arise

Review final findings and report out to Center leadership

Budget Strategy and Planning

Guide the development of budgets and financial planning for the Center

Advise on financial forecasting and modeling

Identify areas for improvement and recommend alternative actions to address budgetary needs

Serve as functional supervisor for Financial Specialist

Additional Responsibilities

If/as needed, willingness to engage in a flexible work schedule to attend early morning meetings and/or late meetings and events

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in public health, public policy, business, or other related field, and five years or more of professional experience

Outstanding organizational skills and ability to effectively manage numerous projects, simultaneously and in various stages of development, with a high attention to detail

Ability to analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of job responsibilities; ability to manage multiple and competing priorities

Must have strong integrity, be highly proactive, have a high degree of problem-solving skills, be highly reliable, retain a sense of ownership and accountability for workload, be flexible and resilient, provide excellent customer service, and possess expert follow-up skills

Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with and build professional relationships with all individuals at all levels; appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information

Proficient computer skills are essential, including demonstrated proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDFs, survey tools such as Qualtrics and Google Forms, and Zoom

Must be productive and flexible under pressure and able to meet deadlines

Must have legal authorization to work in the United States

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of University practices, rules and regulations

Previous experience working on the implementation of health interventions in Low or Middle Income Countries (LMICs)

Deep knowledge and personal experience residing in a LMIC

Work ScheduleThis position is eligible for flexible (i.e., hybrid) work arrangements. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change based on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment. In addition to the regular in office workdays/hours, there will be additional times, some early morning and/or evening hours that require working on-site for events.
