Summary This position is located in the Office of Public Affairs. The supervisor is David Castelveter. This position is Bargaining Unit with the National Treasury Employees Union, Chapter 208. This position requires minimal travel. Expenses associated with interview travel and/or relocation expenses associated with job offer will NOT be paid. This position is NOT subject to confidential financial disclosure reporting requirements. Responsibilities The person selected for this position will serve as the IT Specialist in the Office of Public Affairs, with responsibilities for providing conventional-type planning, coordination, review, monitoring, and assessment of IT systems for OPA Headquarters and Regional Offices. Provides advice and assistance on moderately complex assignments regarding the use of technology necessary to perform work; technology administration and support for social and digital media services; provides direction on potential cyber security issues and initiatives; maintains and shares knowledge and awareness of new technologies and technology issues; consults with the A/V and graphics staff to assist with multi-media projects; and performs duties in support of telecommunication systems and requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment This is a Drug Testing position. You must meet the qualifications for this position by no later than 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position. Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. For the GG-11: To qualify at the GG-11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GG-09), which is defined as experience that demonstrates an ability and knowledge of planning, coordination, review, monitoring, and assessment of IT systems. OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, engineering or technology management; OR equivalent doctoral degree in one or more of the fields identified above that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION - At least 1 year of combined graduate education and experience as defined in paragraphs above (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED). For the GG-12: To qualify at the GG-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GG-11), which is defined as experience that demonstrates thorough knowledge of planning, coordination, review, monitoring, and assessment of IT systems. Education Additional Information The duty location of this position is Rockville, Maryland. In general, employees are expected to be in the office (4 days per pay period).
