Benny's - Chef / Kitchen Manager

Maine, Maine 00000 Maine USA
Aplica ya

Benny's is a Philly-inspired Italian American restaurant and sandwich shop from the owner of Ramona’s, located in the heart of downtown Portland, Maine. We are on target to open in late March/early April 2025.

We are looking for a chef to lead our kitchen and foster the art of hospitality within our walls. The ideal candidate is a seasoned cook interested in personal growth with goals to move toward management and stability.

We want to build a team based on inclusivity and mutual respect. Our chef will collaborate with FOH leadership and myself to foster and drive our growth. We expect our leadership to be culture drivers—to set the tone with staff and customer-facing interactions to further Benny's reputation and advancement in the community. Our management team is expected to lead with empathy and respect for each other and our guests.

Quality of life and self-care are important to us. When our team is happy and healthy, the overall success of our establishment is directly affected. We want to do our very best to change what working in a restaurant can and should be. Hospitality is something we give to our guests and each other.

Benny's holds a zero-tolerance policy regarding the consumption of drugs and alcohol for all staff while on-premise. While we will feature a full bar program, staff is required to adhere to this policy.

Potential candidates should meet the following requirements:

- Excellent knowledge of food techniques, kitchen equipment, and ingredients.

- Leadership and management skills, including motivating and training kitchen staff.

- Decision-making and problem-solving skills, including handling high-pressure situations professionally.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills, including multitasking and prioritizing effectively.

- Strong communication skills include working collaboratively with other team members and interacting with customers.

- Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.

- Must be self-motivated and service-oriented

- Committed to maintaining all aspects of quality before, during, and after service

- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

- Basic knowledge of Google Sheets/Excel programs.

If interested, please reply with a resume and a brief introduction. References welcome.

We look forward to hearing from you!

-Josh Sobel, owner
