General Manager- Benny's

Benny's is a Philly-inspired Italian American restaurant and sandwich shop from the owner of Ramona’s, located in the heart of downtown Portland, Maine. We are on target to open in late March/early April 2025.

We are seeking a General Manager to lead our restaurant and cultivate the art of hospitality within our walls. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to motivate and inspire employees, as well as strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with both team members and our guests. The successful candidate will also utilize their experience to design and implement policies that enable our organization to meet the needs of both guests and staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-Foster high staff morale and effective performance management.

-Control labor and expenses in all areas of operations.

-Manages the facility's day-to-day operations. Schedules, plans, and organizes work and communicates goals. Ensures staff compliance with standards and procedures, identifies opportunities for improvement, and resolves issues.

-Hires, trains, and supports FOH staff.

-Oversees the guest service model, ensures guest complaints are resolved appropriately, and ensures appropriate service recovery gestures are made to ensure complete guest satisfaction.

-Provides a consistent and superior food & beverage experience.

-Ensures compliance with all applicable occupational, health, and safety regulations and laws. Creates an environment where safety comes first. Oversees the Safety Program and ensures the company’s safety policies are followed.

-Monitors the restaurant's appearance and ensures problems are resolved expeditiously.

-Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays, as well as extended workdays to support business needs

Potential candidates should meet the following requirements:

-Has extensive knowledge of food service management and a demonstrated history of success. Capable of staying proactive and positive even in high-pressure environments.

-Shows initiative and good judgment when supporting guests, colleagues, and staff members. Has the capability to think swiftly and precisely, assess issues, and provide suitable recommendations.

-Outstanding skills in organization and time management, demonstrating effective multitasking and prioritization.

-Effective communication skills involve collaborating with team members and engaging with customers.

-Proficient in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, along with foundational knowledge of Google Sheets and Excel.
