Description We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for our client in Lafayette, Louisiana. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic team environment and play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our accounts payable department. This is a contract to short-term contract to full time employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Handle the administrative and clerical needs of the Accounts Payable/Finance Department Execute daily processes and controls accurately and in a timely manner Ensure compliance with company policies Provide superior customer service to internal business partners Assist with internal and external audits as required Open, sort, and distribute daily department mail Sort, log, photocopy, and file invoices, checks, and other documents Verify, log, and mail checks, expedite special handling when necessary Perform special projects as assigned Utilize accounting software systems such as Great Plains, IBM AS/400, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and Microsoft Excel Manage accounts payable functions including check processing and data entry Handle any discrepancies in accounts payableRequirements Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is mandatory Familiarity with Great Plains (GPAC) is required Knowledge and experience in using IBM AS/400 necessary Competence in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is vital Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential Understanding of Accounting Functions is required Experience in Accounts Payable (AP) is necessary Knowledge of Check Processing is key Proficiency in Data Entry is mandatory Ability to handle Discrepancy issues is essential Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or relevant field Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Specialist or similar role Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload Ability to work independently and as part of a team Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands Proficient in English language, both written and spokenRobert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
