Supplemental InformationThe Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) is responsible for fairly and efficiently collecting state tax revenues to fund public services, to regulate charitable gaming and the sale of alcoholic beverage and tobacco, and to support state agencies in the collection of overdue debts. Collectively, each program, unit, division and group work together to provide the core services to taxpayers of the State of Louisiana and stakeholders of the agency. LDR is comprised of the following groups: Tax Collection, Charitable Gaming, Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC), Debt Recovery and Louisiana Tax Free Shopping Commission.The Revenue Processing Center is responsible for the timely front-end processing of all tax returns, payments and related documents, including deposit of funds and data capture of tax information. Annually the division will process 13 million pieces, including tax returns for 38 different taxes, associated remittances, supporting documentation and correspondence and internal documents. These items include tax payments of $2 billion general fund dollars. Several methods are utilized to accomplish these goals. The functions are performed using permanent and temporary staff, variable scheduling and shift work, and pay differentials to hire and retain employees. Performance of these functions directly impacts the cash flow for the state and the issuance of taxpayer refunds or collection notices. ABOUT THIS POSITION:The incumbent will serve in the Data Validation Unit and is responsible for the review and reconciliation of source documents, reports indicating documents processed and money deposited, integrated tax system reports substantiating tax return and payment data posted to taxpayer accounts.Duties include, but are not limited to:

Corrects taxpayer account history to correctly reflect the amount remitted; verifies that information from tax documents and monies processed are accurately entered and posted into the system; determines the source and cause of posting errors using reports from the integrated tax system and other control documents.

Identifies posting errors generated from incomplete system transmissions, determines the source of those errors, and resolves any incorrect information posted to the taxpayer accounts or departmental accounting records. Corrects taxpayer account history to properly credit data from such incomplete transmissions.

Verifies that checks bundled for deposit are accounted for on the Daily Collections Report.

Distributes daily reports; routes tax documents to the appropriate business unit; merges daily reports and archival boxing of reports and tax documents.

Responds to inquiries from the Legislative or Internal Auditors for explanations of corrections to taxpayer or accounting records.

Processes all paperwork that is being sent back to the taxpayer while assuring that appropriate notations are on the taxpayers account.

Performs other duties as assigned for the efficient operation of the division.

LDR- LA. R.S.15:587.5, 587.6 and the IRS require the Louisiana Department of Revenue ("LDR") to conduct a criminal history records check of a prospective employee who will access federal tax information to perform his job duties. If you are given a conditional offer of employment, a criminal history records check will occur before your first day of work. The check requires submission of your fingerprints that will be run through national and state databases to determine if any criminal offenses are connected to your name.
