Supplemental InformationThe Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) is responsible for fairly and efficiently collecting state tax revenues to fund public services, to regulate charitable gaming and the sale of alcoholic beverage and tobacco, and to support state agencies in the collection of overdue debts. Collectively, each program, unit, division and group work together to provide the core services to taxpayers of the State of Louisiana and stakeholders of the agency. LDR is comprised of the following groups: Tax Collection, Charitable Gaming, Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC), Debt Recovery and Louisiana Tax Free Shopping Commission.The Office of Alcohol & Tobacco Control (ATC) is responsible for overseeing the alcoholic and tobacco industries within the state. The office is comprised of four divisions: Administrative, Business, Legal and Enforcement. ABOUT THIS POSITION: The Business Division is responsible for the licensing of alcoholic beverage manufacturers, wineries, retailers, wholesalers and wholesale tobacco product dealers. The Business Division processes over 25,000 alcohol and tobacco permits annually, including notifying permits holders of renewal dates and collecting permit and administrative fees. The incumbent in this position provides front line customer service.Duties include, but not limited to:

Correctly processes alcohol and tobacco renewals, solicitors, duplicate permit request, out-of business, caterers, adding beer and liquor, and vending machines.

Checks taxpayer good standing status on Secretary of State website.

Checks monthly denial list for taxpayers out of compliance with state sales tax.

Accurately enters data into customer relationship management system.

Correctly closes out batch and checks deposit total by deposit date report to determine if balanced for daily collections.

Performs other duties as assigned.

College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience. NOTE: Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments. NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university. Job ConceptsFUNCTION OF WORK:To assist taxpayers by analyzing, adjusting, collecting payments, and resolving discrepancies on accounts relative to tax due notices. LEVEL OF WORK:Experienced. SUPERVISION RECEIVED:General from Revenue Tax Analyst Supervisor or higher-level personnel. SUPERVISION EXERCISED:None. LOCATION OF WORK:Department of Revenue. JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Revenue Tax Analyst 1 by the presence of experienced-level duties. Differs from Revenue Tax Analyst 3 by the absence of more complex responsibilities. Examples of WorkAssists taxpayers in preparing tax forms, tax returns, and tax registration forms; responds to inquiries regarding such. Determines validity and accuracy of assessed tax liabilities by reviewing forms, documents, and payments for compliance with tax laws. Contacts taxpayers to clarify and obtain information; informs taxpayer of tax account status, legal rights, and obligations, and computes penalty and interest. Determines appropriate collection action (i.e. informal installment agreement, penalty waiver, extensions, etc.) as a means of satisfying liabilities, based on account history and taxpayer response. Initiates billings on accounts not complying with filing requirements by calculating and assessing tax amount. Sells cigarette tax stamps to authorized wholesale tobacco dealers; prepares reports on sales.
