Supply Chain Manager
We are looking for an experienced produce buyer for a high-end produce company servicing 5 Star restaurants.
In this position you will be a key employee in the food supply chain, responsible for negotiating contracts, managing inventory, and ensuring high-quality, cost-effective produce is delivered to meet customer needs.
Core duties and responsibilities
Sourcing and procurement: Identify and establish strong, ethical relationships with growers, brokers, and suppliers to ensure a consistent, high-quality, and cost-effective supply of fresh produce.
Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and prices for wholesale produce, ensuring competitive pricing to meet budget requirements and maximize profitability.
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent overstock, minimize spoilage, and ensure product freshness and availability.
Quality Control: Perform inspections of incoming produce to ensure it meets quality grade, and food safety standards. Resolve any issues related to product quality or delivery.
Vendor Management: Evaluate and select new suppliers, build strong relationships with existing vendors.
Negotiation and communication: Strong negotiation skills are necessary to secure favorable pricing and contracts.
Product knowledge: A knowledge of produce, including seasonality, shelf-life, and food safety standards such as USDA and PACA.
Computer proficiency: Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with inventory management software are expected.
Attention to detail: A meticulous and organized approach is needed to manage purchasing details, track orders, and ensure product quality.
